Parkway Driving Academy offers the following professional driver training classes through their Nanaimo driver training facility.

Class 1 Driver's License - Professional Driver Training Class

*Allows a person to operate semi trucks and all other classes of vehicles except motorcycles.

Pre-requisites – Class 1 learner’s licence and air brake endorsement already in place.

38 hour course – 9 x 4 hour sessions and use of the truck for the road test
42 hour course - 10 x 4 hour sessions and use of the truck for the road test
54 hour course – 13 x 4 hour sessions and use of the truck for the road test
66 hour course – 16 x 4 hour sessions and use of the truck for the road test

Class 2 Driver's License - Professional Driver Training Class

* Allows a person to operate buses and special activity buses and those vehicles in class 4.

class_2_vehicleRequirements: Must be 19 years of age and obtain driver's abstract from BC Drivers Services.

Steps Taken
:
1) Obtain Class 2 learner's license at BC Driver Services

2) Register for driver training

3) When training is complete, take pre-trip and road test at BC Driver Services. 

4) If bus has air brakes you will need air brake endorsement available through our air brake course.

Package Includes:
22 hours of driver training plus pre-trip and use of bus for exam

All fees must be in place before training commences. ICBC fees paid separately.

Class 3 Driver's License - Professional Driver Training Class

*Allows a person to operate trucks with more than 2 axels such as dump trucks or large tow trucks or mobile truck crane.

dumptruckRequirements: Must be 18 years of age and obtain drivers abstract from BC Driver's Services.

Steps Taken:

1) Take 20 hour air brake course
2) Take written exam at Drivers Services and receive air brake endorsement on class 5 license

3) Obtain Class 3 learners license at BC Drivers Services 

4) Register for driver training
5) When training is complete, take pre-trip and road test at BC Driver Services.

Package 1
20-hour Air Brake course and 28 hours of Driver Training

FREE HOURS OF SERVICE COURSE ( LOG BOOKS )  WITH PURCHASE OF A CLASS 3 PACKAGE

Driver Training is sold separately for those who already have their air brake endorsement.

All fees must be in place before training commences. Lessons are taught in 4-hour blocks. ICBC fees paid separately.

Class 4 (unrestricted) Driver's License - Professional Driver Training Class

*Allows a person to operate a bus with a maximum seating capacity up to 25 persons, including vehicles used to transport people with disabilities. Also taxis, limousines, and ambulances.

Class 4 License VehicleRequirements: Must be 19 years of age a have a class 4 learners' license.

Training program is completed over 2 days. It includes 6 hours of training and use of the school van for the road test. Student is provided with a handbook to study. Pre-trip inspection, road craft and passenger safety are the focus of the program.

Course Cost $650.00. ICBC fees paid separately.
